OUR HISTORY

Founded in historic Smithfield, Va. in 2016, we believe in crafting products that connect people, creating lasting memories, and doing right by our planet and the people on it. We do this with a whole lot of creativity, a quick wit, and our love for a good drink – because in the end, what more can you ask for?

WHO WE ARE

Just like our ingredients, we’re a blend of families committed to producing spirits that defy all categories and surpass expectations. Our award-winning small batch distilling process began as part science experiment, part art form, and a whole lot of passion for mixing things up. The result? A diverse set of premium award-winning spirits that are thoroughly original, and unquestionably good. We take pride in sourcing ingredients locally and making the most of what Virginia has to offer – from resources such as our wheat, to our oak barrels, to the traditions and legends found in our branding. 

BEYOND THE POUR

Blue Sky Distillery’s work goes beyond the pour. Our process starts locally, from our ingredients to our sustainable practices, and makes its way back to our community. We’re not only the first distillery in Virginia to be designated “green”, but one of the first ever to begin producing with a sustainable mindset right from the get-go. As a certified Virginia Green tourism partner, we believe in protecting the natural resources that are the foundation of every single product. Going beyond the pour for us also means leveraging our powers for good – which means we strive to celebrate the diverse perspectives of our employees, customers, and partners. We are also committed to not only make a positive impact on our planet, but to give back where possible. We have proudly partnered with the American Cancer Society, Team Rubicon, and Friends of Homeless Animals in the past year on causes that are close to our hearts. Moving forward we plan to increase our philanthropic endeavors to broaden the corroborative impact that we can make by supporting the big and small organizations that are looking to make a positive difference in the world.
